Soto Ayam Sham Othman @ Lorong Perak, K.L.

".. Lunch hour is coming. Where to lunch?... Where to lunch?.. Where to lunch?..." my mind was racing to search a location to lunch.

Since I had lunch partners, so suggested them to go for Soto Ayam. With luck the weather is a bit gloomy, mean no direct sunlight. So they agreed to go along to try out something new.

This was my second time there. The serving is not large, so it doesn't fill up my tummy well. The soto ayam main ingredient is the soup, which uses a number of spices. With shredded chicken, mihun, taugeh and some chopped chinese leeks, of I started to slurp it. The soup is tasty enough. But my lunch partner claimed it cannot rival the one in Jakarta. As I also have tried variety of Soto Ayam there but I can recalled what is the taste like.

With the small serving of Soto Ayam, I started looking for other food to fill my food "bag".

There I saw the Laksa noodle, and ordered a bowl of it. As it is new my lunch partner did the same as the Soto Ayam still leaved a void to be filled. A simple serving with cucumber, onion, half of chicken egg, a lime and the laksa noodle, oh.. not to forget a spoonful of cili padi, which has given an gasping lunch. The noodle was soak in a soup which contain taste a fish, I believed the fish was boiled to melt into the soup. So I can't see any fish or pieces of fish meat. And you know what, the taste is good.

The above is the pic of the stall. Just along the road side. The best of all was the price that I have to pay. Soto Ayam @ RM3.50 and Laksa @ RM3.00

So I can't ask for more with this price. So go and surprise yourself with it.

Campbell Popiah @ Hutong, Lot 10

Was at Lot 10 the other day to have a look at the person call Chua Lam...

And there I was, at lower ground floor Hutong Food Court looking for my lunch. With variety food in the food court, I was like walking around undecided. There I saw someone doing some wrapping work using some round white sheet.

And my brain registered the food for lunch, Popiah, one the local delicacies in Malaysia. And they wrap the multiple popiah so fast.. wait wait.. let rewind a bit... where was I.. okay.. on registering the popiah to my brain, I started to look for the menu to see what choices do I get.

With only 3 choices, the task of choosing became daunting. Lucky the lady was patient with me. Then, "..2 Campbell Mini Popiah please.." (at the time of ordering, not realizing the minimum 2 pieces is required to deal). "..5.30.." I was like huh.. 5.30 pm to get my order. "..huh..'', "..5 ringgit and 30 sen, please..", then I go "..oh..". He he he...okay okay joke aside.

So I parted with my 5 ringgit and 30 sen. And I was directed to the other side to wait for my order.

While I was waiting, I was thinking it must be ready in a minute. Since there was so many of the popiahs being rolled at one time. Looking at the guy doing it and putting it in the a box, only to realize none of them were for me. Waiting I did. At last I got my order, 2 pieces of Campbell Mini Popiah.

With the brain overdoing the visualization of the popiah taste, my mouth started to salivate. Look for a seat, of course with a table. I was about to take a piece and put into my mouth.. wait wait.. ow.. I got to take a photo first.

Okay put away the capturing gadget. Fork and spoon in hand. Ready, get, set and go.

It is juicy, a little spicy, as I ask for chilly. While munching away, as my tummy is empty. Finished all within few minutes. It tasted to me as any popiah I have taken before, only thing is the taste is not on the heavy side. Just nice. And it is not as dry as others I have tasted.

Conclusion, it taste good. So if you guys have not try it. Do go get it, as I was lucky that day. As earlier I have tried twice to get the popiah, but long queue turned me away. It is famous. And chosen and invited by Tan Sri Dato' Francis Yeoh to have their outlet in Hutong Food Court at Lot 10.

On leaving the food court I dropped by to take some more photos. On seeing me shooting here and there, the owner joyfully thumb upped at me. Click I go on the second time, as the first time he put up his thumb, I was shocked by his action. He also asked me if I have eaten his popiah. Yes I did uncle. Thanks.

Not to be a lengthy person, a final photo of the outlet.

Oh, I have yet to try the other 2 choices. Will do it next round.

McDonald toys

Got this one last week from McDonald's outlet. Got them at RM3 each. Quite an interesting toys. Where the metal ball is to be launched into a mouth. This one was available last week. Not sure if this week there are any left.
Got it for my son, as he is constantly hunting for McDonald's toys. With friends in school, he bound to come across the toys from McDonald.

This week should be a different set. Haven't got the time to check it out.

These toys is going to help to improve my son more on his reflects and also teach him to be patient. At the beginning he was anxious to get the metal ball into the mouth, and failed to do so, then he got into anger suit. So parenting time.

The toys are well made and last. The lasting part still rely on the children handling.

And it is cute for collection. Now, where are they... "..son! where did you place it?!.."

NEX-5N: picture of it

I am newly attached to one beautiful and petite individual... what more with it's shine under the light. It makes my finger dance on it..

Okay, below are the shots of what I had bagged last week.

Love the way this camera allows me to hang it on my finger. The feel of an DSLR I am owning, but in mini size. It makes me feel at home.

On using the camera, I discovered it kept focusing even though my finger is off the shutter button. So I go guessing the reason. First thought, was it a defect? So I went to the screen and start searching the menu and do some settings. Still it kept focusing whenever I move the camera to different objects with different distance. My mind went racing around for others possible cause. On discussing the matter with friends, they gave me the idea with their questions. Maybe it is meant to shorten the time in capturing the scene. So... this must be the reason, more to console me self.

I was surprised when the first day of playing with the camera. The shutter is loud. It feels like what the DSLR did, ka-chunk. On multiple shot, I thought I was shooting with a machine gun with silencer. Anyway, I got myself used to it. This also mean that I am no longer can be stealthy in the public.

One of the bundle item, the flash unit. I have not till today used it on the camera. Never thought I will want to use it. My reason is that the camera can produce shots good enough for me on higher ISO.

This is a replacement for my earlier S90, which was sold. But it seems the two are of different group. What triggered me to look at NEX-5N is the versatility of NEX-5 which a friend of mine is using. The size and the capabilities are amazing to me. Light weight is a bonus. And more importantly I had a budget. Now with this purchase the accounting book went haywire. And thanks to the articles over the net, which has gave this camera a it's own light, which led me to it.

With the ability to change lens, I am looking forward for new lens or any third party with E-mount. My future addition will be a zoom 55-210mm and a fast prime lens at 35mm. As current I am also shooting with Canon 1000D via 50mm f1.4, which has intrigue me with no ends.

The camera bag that came free with the camera on purchase, fit nicely when using the camera with 18-55mm lens. When the camera fit with the 16mm, it is loose. Anyway this is the only bag I can rely on at this moment. I am my the way to complete my own creation, that will fit the camera with 16mm on it (will share the photos on it once it is completed).

I would like to say more, but the news has covered most of it.

Lastly, I am wondering why I was so eager to had one of this NEX-5N after knowing that is was going to have a click noise on video shooting. Still wondering....

Photos above was shot with HTC Desire HD.

Litt Tak Gundam Sales at Sungei Wang

I was at Sungei Wang 6th Floor last nite as a friend wants to check out the price of Gundams.

Viola! Sales! The price is discounted to the level as per those price at outlet in BTS and Lowyat. And to my surprise, some of the item is at a lower price.

Now I am considering of getting one of them which is in a high price range item. But.. wallet seems to be shrinking lately. Now now.. if someone willing to sponsor..

NEX-5N with click noise

Duh... I was so tempted on spending my hard earned cash. There goes the new gadget a few days ago. Even though knowing there is problem to this gadget, yet I was caught up with the good price offered to me.

I have a hearing problem, but some one else don't. There I go recording a movie without moving the gadget, put to my wife ear, yes, there is click.. click... click... Aww.. my heart sunk to the bottom of the sea.

Yes it does has a good produce on still shot if not fantastic.

But knowing that I don't really go producing videos, I can wait if it can be resolved.

One lesson learned, when there is news from mulitple sources, and it is the same news, just trust them.

Okay, all comments ended.. now I will go pausing life into digital.

Update 27-09-2011:
As I and wife tried a few video, apparently the click sound is not there. Maybe I am lucky or just the click sound will appear later. So got to put aside the worries and enjoy using it.

Clay Teapot

New pot added to existing pots. This one is the smallest I have. Only can make 2 mini cups of tea. The tea went into this pot is Pu-Er.

Got it at USJ19 Mall, there is this guy from China selling China artistic stuff. With a little bargain, I took it at RM40. But I was being lamented for not making the man selling at much lower price. So my conclusion, as long I am interested in this teapot and the price is something I can afford, I will just listen to comments and stashed it elsewhere in the memory.

HTC Desire HD TPU Case

Got a case for Desire HD. Made of silicon like material. On the back an orange label with print 'TPU CASE'. No brand name.
It is soft and easy to wear it on the mobile phone. Surrounding is well cover except for the earphone slot and the micro USB slot.
The ON button and the volume rocker is covered and easy to access. Turning on the phone is easier than without the case. The word here is more tactile.
It is in black translucent. Where the brand HTC is clearly seen. This case allow the mobile phone to be placed with the screen down with a micro gap between the table and the screen. Only advisable to place it face down on clean surface. If the mobile phone is put face up, the lens area is not touching the surface where it is lying down. Thanks to the design where there is excess rubber to protect it. No test were done to crash it to the floor. So can't say if it is protecting the unit from breaking in parts.

RM20 was the price. The cheapest so far. Can't ask for more with this price. And fit nicely.

50mm PARNIS watch

I just can't recalled what pushed me to go bidding again. I was in eBay and seen a watch
then I realized I was putting my price for the wristwatch. The best thing is that I started only when there was about 3 hours left for bidding the wristwatch. Now I know why I started the bidding. Actually I wanted a wristwatch with diameter of 50mm. It is huge on my wrist. The one watch I don't have in my collection.
In the past, I never got myself to commit on it. So made a move, now got it. It has a good finishing. Actually I am amazed with what I see.
Just love the way it look.

Penyet Express

I was having a lunch on one Monday last week. Mmm.. *salivating*.. yummy.. Okay, stop drooling, I told myself. Start selecting the packages that is offered on the menu. Took something with all beef on it. And I received a number for a start, 24 on a plastic stand. As usual when I am in a Indonesian food outlet, I will look for Indonesian famous pack tea. 'Teh Botol' soon listed in my order list.

After some tossing head around, at time with frozen head and eyes riveting on something. Ta da.. came my meal. Plate of white rice. Pitty they don't do coconut milk rice, what the Indonesian call 'nasi uduk'. I really missed it, when I was in Jakarta, the 'nasi uduk' comes with fried onion. The pack of tea arrived with a corner nipped. And also a plastic mug with some ice in it. Took the straw and stuff it into the pack through nipped corner. No ice for me.

What I can say is the food is fantastic, the beef is tendered, no tendon it in. Meatball tasted good too, with strong taste of beef.

Chewing away to the end. Left the last meatball with some burn on it. Was wondering, if the black stuff on it will shortened my life. With carbon to promote cancer... ah.. what the heck.. bite and bite I go on the last meatball.. bam... seems it is rotten. The funny thing was I kept chewing, biting and *gulp* it went down the throat. I was hoping my system can help me to fight the rotted part.

My tummy felt uncomfortable, some what 2 hours later. Gas everywhere in the stomach. Tried to air it out. But it got worst. And the next in line, body felt achy and getting cold with hot body. FEVER. Ouch! Turn to bed early. Till today I am still having chesty cough. What an experience to begin with the new year.

SO lesson learned, do not continue the gluttony. I should be a better person than I am now.

Anyway the food is delicious, just have to be careful when eating. I am sure the tongue is able to tell us what is wrong with the food if any..

Tea Leaves

Tea drinking needs tea leaves. Tea leaves comes in many form. Mostly are processed. Compressed or as it is in shrunken form or each large leave is rolled into a ball.

As the above picture, all are compressed and it is still not 'open'. Even compressed tea have a few forms. Those I have seen are in big biscuit (as in the picture), brick and small bowl. Yup not to leave out the cone shape.

The tea is also classified into raw and ripe. After trying a few types, I am associating myself with the ripe tea.

Some may wonder, why that many tea biscuits. Does it expires? Nah, they can be kept many years. That what makes me start collecting it. Only will acquire them when there is a discount sales.

Next will wait for the discount sales, where I will grab the brick teas. There is one particular brick tea that smells wood.

HTC Desire HD

I was prodding myself to look at other mobile phone, after the sad news of Nokia N8. Been seeing HTC Desire HD since then. But can't quite place myself with it. As my current ringer is still functioning. The camera and video was not anywhere near the Nokia N8.

So what to do with this 4.3 inch screen. I know myself very well, that the new toys is not going to be in a marathon with me. New it maybe, that is all it is to me. Once used, it is just simply a phone for receiving and sending messages and also voices through and fro. And it is not any cheaper even after packaging with the data plan. Guess I will hibernate till the next one props up.

Hmm.. should I kid myself to have one... *devil*
--- Regreting now for not seriously go looking for it earlier. Every Digi outlet is not having any stock on this unit. *sobbing*.

Additional Tea Tools

From the last post about tea, I have bagged few more new items. 2 new clay teapots, 4 clay cups, 4 wooden cup trays, a clay tea mug, 2 tea filters and a self made tea scoop. The latest item tea filters and brown clay teapot was purchase on sales which took place last month. Sales on items with interest becomes a loot and quite addictive.

The tea drinking becomes a mundane activity recently. Just can't bring back the thoughts that triggered the start of tea sipping again, after being setback for awhile. Was rummaging the internet pages to understand the acidity, instead began reading the goodness of it. Besides, getting the knowledge of the right tea to enjoy at the right hour. This pushes me to maintain the unexciting daily event, but health is first.

So start one if you have not or have not been doing it lately.

Badminton

Started to indulge into my favorite sports in the middle of November 2010. Started with one racket that was with me since 1991. I became interested again when I realized the company I work for provided the facility. All I have to do is to bring my racket and shoes. Till to date I have own 5 rackets and given one away. Been using the latest racket just few hours ago. Actually never thought of getting the next racket, but was curious what others were using. After knowing the brand, went scouting the brand in the net.

Marked a shop and went there to check out the rackets. Got myself an Apacs Visible 2000.

Mean while my old shoe was bringing me to the brim of breaking my legs as the sole is loosed. Now that was definitely a good reason to save my legs. So I went to the net rummaging for a pair of shoes. Found an offer that free a shoe bags after discounted the price. Not sure if I got a good bargain. So I went out to get it. Before finally taking the shoe. I dropped by an outlet to check if better price opportunity was thrown in my way. Collected none, but put a hole to my wallet. All I knew in my hand was a racket Apacs Feather Weight 200. That was fast as the earlier new racket was used in a session only.

The horrible thing do happened, I was not satisfied, there was another brand caught my interest. That was the new racket I was using hours ago. While getting Oliver Organic 1, I went to deposit myself a new bag. As can be seen in the photo below.

There goes my rackets.
I get a new benefit from this, I save the expenses on the courts and shuttlecocks. The best is my body is renewed once a week.

Exercise with my favorite sports really makes me happy. Since I have just started I still get the sore in my arm and wrist. So once a week is good for me, so I can relax the sore.

So what sports are you doing?

Nokia N8

Disappointment crops up in me. Was about to dip my pocket for a Nokia N8.

And kaboom.. bad news..

Nokia N8 can goes dead.

The reason I was so looking forward for this mobile phone is it's capability to shoot good photos. For a famous name product, still there is problem plaguing.

Guess I have to psych myself to forget my intention.

Wondering how this brand name can produce defect products?

I was never interested in this brand earlier even though they are famous, as the toys are not sophisticated enough. Then came the N8, which got me interested.

Guess Nokia is never for me... hope Nokia have something new and as good as N8 or better.. and without problem.. else..

Rapoo 6600

Here is a Bluetooth mouse from RAPOO. Model number 6600. With this mouse, no dongle is required as most laptop pc does have Bluetooth built in. It is small in size. The design of this casing allow me to lift the mouse with 2 fingers ( a thumb and fourth finger ). Some may not want to agree on the idea of lifting the mouse around. But I just love to do that. As some time the mouse is out of 'range', and I have to return it with in the area where the mouse can be sliding around with out hitting the laptop or obstruction from other items surrounding it. Below is a pic to show the size of the mouse. A triple A battery is used as comparison.

Beneath the mouse there are various button or switches. They are clearly labeled. There is no need of explanation required.
The package of this mouse included a short USB cable, a rechargeable AAA battery, a pouch (which has a pocket in the pouch to store the USB cable) and 2 additional covers ( black and dark blue ). As mentioned in the manual, the battery can last about 3 weeks before next charge. And there is an indicator light to indicate the battery is weak. The light is hidden between 2 buttons, in front of the scroll wheel.
No auto sleep on this mouse, if the laptop turns to idle mode, the mouse is to be clicked to return the connection (I am not sure if that is how it wakes up).
The DPI button switches between 800 and 1600. So far only use it once and the connection is pretty good. As I just got it yesterday.

Ingersoll

This one is a manual winding with stopwatch function by Ingersoll. Illuminated in green. The first time I saw this, I immediately turn the watch over to see the back of it. Yes! This is what I am looking for! And it came in a hefty price for not known watch. Maybe it is catching up or should I say it may make a name in future. Anyway, I might as well enjoy it, since I have owned it.

The second shot is the back of the watch. The mechanism can be viewed. This mechanism displayed is for the stop watch.
